F.A.Q.Q. By taking the treatments will I lose the positive qualities of my personality symptoms?A. No! The beauty of natural therapies are to balance the body, and retain all new awarenesses and positive personality developments. |
BODY BALANCING ITSELFThe body is always trying to keep itself running smoothly. If the ovaries are in a decline and not producing hormones, the body will try to make up for it by getting them from somewhere else. This is the process of compensating. The body will always attempt to compensate for a disorder by increasing the activity of a similar function. Often the body will have several compensations at the same time. The following compensations are commonly found with declining estrogen and progesterone hormones. |

When learning about the different hormone combinations, you learn more about yourself. The treatments are not always different with each group of compensations, but the insights are like gold. They add an extra component to each evaluation. Why do I do these things? What will I retain after I am balanced? This must be why so and so acts that way! It is amazing how succinctly our behaviors can be explained and understood by identifying our unique chemical combinations. We are beings with analytical minds, and in my opinion, at least half of our healing comes from understanding. Know thyself!

In order to get what we want we can manipulate our environment to create the space for us to play out our stuff. With an imbalance that needs external validation we will create problems in order to fix them so that we can feel that we have value. What a waste of energy! When I first got together with Norm I felt that I could make him happy and get through anything. Was I wrong! I have learned that we can only make ourselves happy or unhappy. I think that there can be a certain amount of facilitation and support to those ends, but that is usually because each party is in agreement! It was a tough lesson for me, and I am humbled by it. I am grateful for the realization though, because it helped me to stand on my own two feet and find my own happiness.
When the PITUITARY compensates with LEUTINIZING HORMONE (LH):
Is “All you need is Love” by the Beatles on your IPOD?
Do you want to take care of everyone?
Are you smothering, doting and excessively involved?
Are you in a relationship that should have ended long ago?
Do you always end up with the wrong person in a relationship?
Do you scrutinize problems in your relationships so you can solve them?
Is happiness your goal for everyone?
Is your sense of validation boosted by helping others?
Are you an enabler?
Do you nag (henppeck) your partner in order to make things better?
When this symptom pattern is present, look into the menopause pituitary luteinizing hormone compensation treatment.

The second type of thyroid compensation is the DEFICIENT THYROID (hypothyroid).
Do you have a decreased metabolism?
Are your thyroid lab values low?
Did you gain weight from the hips down?
Is there a loss of physical and mental vigor?
Do you see pictures in your mind yet have difficulty finding the words to communicate them?
Is your body temperature low?
Do you retain water in the hands, feet, and the face?
Are you cold to the bone, and have to take a hot bath to warm up?
Do small amounts of food seem to put on weight?
Is your hair dry and coarse?
Are your fingernails weak and thin?
Is your cholesterol elevated?
When this symptom pattern is present, look into the menopause thyroid deficiency compensation treatment.

The most frustrating thing about thyroid disorders is that you usually can't remember your symptoms! Sometimes the thyroid will flip flop and manifest hyper, and then hypo symptoms. It's all a part of our compensation networks. Blood tests can show false highs and lows too.
I have experienced low thyroid symptoms before, and it is the most frustrating thing to have a brain and not be able to use it! It's like a cosmic joke. Gee thanks for the lack of synapse response!!! It feels like your brain is sitting on your shoulder in a cloud, nice and cushy, meanwhile there are some things going on around you and they are flying by in bits and pieces. And by the time that you have some words to say about any of it they are long gone.
I have also experienced the hyper symptoms, and the biggest frustration with that is the SLOWNESS of everyone else! I can finish their thoughts before they open their mouths. And I'm ready to die of boredom while they are trying to get their words out.
The bottom line with both problems is that you are not really engaging with other people. You're dance steps are too slow or they are right out the door. When your thyroid is just right you can really BE with other people. And that's what life is all about!
Close to 80% of pituitary compensators also develop a thyroid problem. There are two types. This is the INEFFICIENT THYROID (poor quality thyroid hormone).
Do you have a sluggish metabolism, yet feel active?
Can’t stand small talk?
Do you have an even weight gain?
Is there a "lump" in your throat?
Do you say the same thing over in different ways?
Are your thoughts going crazy so you must talk faster?
Do you censor your words so you don’t offend anyone?
Do you like multiple subject changes in conversation?
Do you have brittle, flakey nails?
Are your thyroid lab values normal to high normal?
When this symptom pattern is present then look into the menopause thyroid inefficiency compensation treatment.
When the LIVER COMPENSATES for the ovaries by producing hormones:
Do you feel like you want to develop a new life or even start over?
Did you get a divorce?
Is there is a need to isolate yourself?
Do you need to have your own money?
Are you athletic or into exercise?
Is impatience and intolerance taking over?
Will you let no one tell you what to do?
Do you have enthusiasm for projects that are difficult to follow through with?
When this symptom pattern is present, look into the menopause liver compensation treatments.
In Chinese Medicine the liver is the general in charge of defense. With the liver compensation there is an intense need for freedom that will be defended at any cost. If this woman is supported without demands then there won't be any major change other than her behavior. She is happy and full of life and will turn in an instant if she feels caged in. Norm's treatment for this is designed so that she retains her enthusiasm, optimism and confidence to live her own life. The balance attained with treatment will enable her not to burn any bridges and to relax and not feel threatened.
Sometimes the LIVER COMPENSATES WITH ESTRIOL.
Do you have most of the liver compensation symptoms above?
Do you tend to be pleasant and not defensive?
Are you detached with an inability to express your vulnerabilities?
Are you emotionally strong, and never cry?
Are you sometimes emotionally insecure, yet no one would ever know?
Do you have fibrocystic breasts?
Are you getting thick skin?
Do you have thick hair?
What about uterine fibroids?
When this symptom pattern is present, look into the menopause liver estriol compensation treatment.

You gotta love that song by Queen. "I Want To Break Free!" Even if you aren't going through a liver-estrone compensation! If you are, then you better sing with Freddie at the top of your lungs at least once a day. These liver symptoms might be responsible for the term "cougar" which refers to a woman who wants what she wants when she wants it with no strings attached. Sounds like fun! (for a few months)
Anyway, the upside to this package is developing personal power. I can earn my own money and do it well. I can get myself a kick-butt body and make you drool. I am a confident, hot woman. Rraow!
The liver-estrone treatment is designed so that you can truly feel financially independent, and not be driven from instability.
The liver-estriol compensators attain balance through emotional stability. Breaking free never looked so good!
Sometimes the LIVER COMPENSATES WITH ESTRONE. This is another very common combination in menopause.
Do you have most of the liver compensations symptoms?
Is “I Want to Break Free” by Queen on your IPOD?
Did you maintain your weight?
Do you feel a strong need for independence, no one dependent on you, and you not dependent on anyone else?
If your romantic partner asks you to make dinner every night at 7pm, do you tell them to hit the road?
Are you highly motivated with a need to pursue your ideas and projects by yourself?

Is the only safe place to be on the toilet with the door locked?
Is stability in your relationships important to you?
Is emotional detachment an issue?
Do you feel like the zest in life got neutralized?
Is this just the hand you were dealt in life?
Are you bone weary, but you keep on trudging?
Do you need chocolate, and do better with it?
When this symptom pattern is present, look into menopause adrenal cortex compensation treatment.

I've tried to get peace from all of the family chaos in the bathroom myself. You can still hear it. What you really need is an IPOD. For me that takes me away to Neverneverland. It also infuriates my daughter, so I only use it in emergencies. "I'm talking to you!!!!!" She says. I know that the roles will be reversed soon. But sometimes you have to take care of your own sanity! Norm needs to come up with an anti-chaos formula. I'm thinking kava kava, aminos and just a touch of theobromine, to take away the "AAAAHHH" as Pink Floyd would say.
Meanwhile back at the adrenal compensation network... Yes there is an upside to this one. Stability in the material world. These lovely ladies become the glue that keeps the family together.
You may have the ADRENAL CORTEX with INCREASED TESTOSTERONE compensation.
Do you have most of the symptoms above for the adrenal cortex?
Are you growing a beard?
Is anger an issue?
Are you aggressive?
Do you feel a need to affirm yourself and your opinions?
Have you gained weight, yet underneath you are solid and strong?
When this symptom pattern is present look into the menopause adrenal cortex increased testosterone treatment.

Hey, we have all been here. It's just that the adrenal cortex- increased testosterone lives here. The fabulous things that are retained with this compensation is being an amazing provider for the family through knock-out ambition, and the ability to accomplish real worthwhile goals. When these ladies have balance through treatment, they manifest less aggression and more power.
With the ADRENAL CORTEX, EXCESSIVE ESTROGEN compensation

Are you very weepy, emotional and hypersensitive?
Did you gain weight in the arms and the waist and thighs’?
Are you aware of being appreciated or not?
Do you feel like you never get what you really want?
Do you make sure everyone is well fed?
Have you become everyone’s mother?
Do you get tired walking up the stairs?
With this symptom pattern is present, look into the menopause adrenal cortex excessive estrogen treatment.
Its funny after I became a mother, all of a sudden I wanted to make sure that everyone around me was well fed! First thing that I would say to my house guests as they entered the door was "Are you hungry? Can I get you something to eat?" That characteristic has faded now, along with those powerful initial mommy hormones. Now I'm grateful for healthy school lunches and any opportunity to eat out.
Balancing these symptoms creates a solid, dependable character, the rock of the family. You know how to nurture yourself to get what you need as well as others. You are the Oak tree that can provide what it takes to ensure that the family is not wanting, while being secure and strong in yourself. Consequently everyone wants to be a tree hugger!
When the ADRENAL CORTEX compensates with ANDROSTENEDIONE you will usually feel the following:
Do you have most of the symptoms of the adrenal cortex compensation?
Is “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper on your IPOD?
Would you like to just read, relax, and party ?
Do you resent responsibility?
When you're left alone, are you just fine and dandy?
When this symptom pattern is present, look into the menopause adrenal cortex androstenedione treatment.

When you take natural treatments that are designed to allow the body to work on it's own, you are working towards balance. So the symptoms that you have can come into their own equilibrium. With this fun compensation pattern what you retain with treatment is an easy going life seen through a child's eyes. Less intensity and more lightness. Hear Hear!

Did you develop obsessive-compulsive tendencies?
Are you frequently overwhelmed by all that you have to do?
Are you feeling neurotic?
Does “nit picky” sound familiar?
Are you thorough?

Do you go off on tangents and get lost in the details?
Are you fabulous in the business world?
Is your environment becoming cluttered?
When these symptoms overwhelm you, look into menopause with pregnenelone compensation treatment.

When I was a kid I had a hard time keeping things tidy and clean. My Dad used to say that when I got older I would want to be fastidious on my own! I got older, and he was right, I love it! I have straightened out the fringe on many a rug. Now I've got kids. I think that my scrupulous tidying days are on the back burner. An adrenal cortex pregnenalone symptom pattern would drive you crazy when you have kids in the house! If I ever develop that one, I'll be taking my treatments with my new OCD skills!!
When this set is balanced you are an expert at organization, you know how to delegate and you know just what it takes to get the job done. You're hired! I need you badly.
The SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM (SNS) compensates sometimes. The SNS is the initial “fight or fight” system that increases sensitivity and alertness.
Are you hypervigilent, thinking something might happen or go wrong?
Are you becoming overly sensitive and reactive?
Do sudden noises blast you through the roof?

Are you intolerant to cold?
Do you have dizzy spells?
Are you nervous and scared?
Did you develop allergies all of a sudden?
Do you have headaches in the back of the head? (tension headaches)
Are you constipated?
Did your blood pressure go up or down?
Do strong smells repel you?
Do you have sweaty hands?
When this symptom pattern is present, look into menopause with sympathetic nervous system compensation

You can get a sympathetic nervous system aggravation from many things. I have had one recently. With the economy the way that it is these days, I suspect that a lot of us are experiencing our SNS. It is the fight or flight response in the body. We are hyper aware of our environment. Kind of like Spider Man with his perception capabilities. We just can't climb walls! But we do figuratively, jumping out of our skins at loud noises or sudden appearances. But when it is balanced we have the ability to spot things that others can't and we can make accurate conclusions about our environment. Kung Fu masters must have well developed sympathetic nervous systems!
The sympathetic nervous system can produce some of the more 'colorful' menopausal conditions. It is characterized by heightened sensitivity which creates a more reactive and expressive nature. Suddenly there is melodrama. It also makes a woman far more sensitive and aware of their environment.
I treated a patient that was just such a case. She was sitting quietly, almost timidly, in the room when I entered. She briefly looked up at me and informed me that the US Navy was sending messages to a submarine off the coast of Oregon (80 miles away) and the vibrations in her head were keeping her awake at night! She went on to say that over the years of having this condition she was able to identify Russian communications, satellite signals, and plain old surges in household power. Needless to say I was extremely intrigued. She had other symptoms characteristic of her menopausal condition; hot flushes, headaches, moodiness, and some depressions which she seemed more interested in alleviating. I prescribed the necessary medications and she informed me that she would have to start them later because she was scheduled to appear at Tektronix lab. There she would be placed in a special room (Faraday Cage) that obstructs all electromagnetic energy. Once situated, the technicians would systematically input a single frequency into the room to see if she could identify it. She returned a month later for a follow-up appointment. At this time, she had good news and bad news. Her Tektronix experiment was entirely successful. She was able to identify every frequency being used by our armed forces and the ones from the Russians. In addition she was able to inform them of some Russian frequencies of which the government was unaware. That was the good news. The bad news was the treatment worked so well in eliminating all of her symptoms she no longer had her "gift." To this I replied that it would be best to take the treatment when she needed and not take it when she had a "performance." I also instructed her that as she improved she would be able to consciously turn her gift on or off as the situation demanded. This is an extreme case, but it is something that can happen, usually in much milder degrees, when the sympathetic nervous system is compensating for low hormones.
Norman E. Easley N.D., D.C., C.Ac.

Hormones are awesome things. We can have all of the gifts in the world when they are balanced, and we can be driven mad, sad and everything outside the box when they are skewed. Just when we think that all is well, nature spikes the punchbowl. But that makes life interesting no? Getting the most out of your ride is a great goal. Thank God for variety and change. And thank Norm for the key to making the most out of it!
