ACTH and Purpose

The pituitary gland produces ACTH (adrenal cortical stimulating hormone). ACTH stimulates the adrenal cortex to produce hormones used for stress adaptation, blood sugar maintenance during stress, and a healthy immune response.

There are also psychological influences produced by ACTH. A normal production of ACTH facilitates the awareness of purpose. It then provides the necessary originality of ideas and, most importantly, the full commitment to make the purpose manifest. What results is a lifelong profession or trade that is satisfying and fulfilling. An added bonus to healthy ACTH production is self-validation. There is an inner sense that the purpose chosen is perfect and no external validation or support is required. All the support required to commit to our ideas, to feel confident in our opinions, and to follow our dreams until their completion exists within us. This prevents us from ever succumbing to adverse influence and being thrown off course. This important pituitary hormone enables us to know our life's purpose and gives us the endurance and stamina to mastermind and fulfill it.

Adrenal Cortex and Stability

The Adrenal Cortex is the outside portion of a triangular-shaped endocrine gland (the adrenal gland) which sits on top of each kidney. It produces and releases several hormones into the blood stream that enable us to adapt to injuries, traumatic emotional experiences, and prolonged periods of stress. The adrenal cortex also helps the body defend itself against bacterial or viral infections and insult from allergy-inducing substances. The adrenal cortex serves as the foundation gland for several of the basic life processes.

Psychologically, the adrenal cortex is the foundation gland that supplies the optimism and stamina to complete one's purpose. It allows us to know what is necessary for a comfortable survival. How much money do we need, what type of house is required, what is a safe neighborhood, and even saving money are all extensions of a healthy adrenal cortex. In all matters of existence in the material world, it causes us to be realistic, practical, pragmatic and down to earth. It provides endurance, and the energy to complete projects or goals. As a result, the ability to complete life's necessary tasks and maintain the perseverance to be successful results from the adrenal cortex. Confidence, faith, and belief in oneself are the ultimate outcome of a healthy adrenal cortex.

Adrenal Medulla and Action

The adrenal medulla produces two essential hormones that provide the determination to complete a goal. Epinephrine and norepinephrine assist the body in manifesting purpose through action. They enable the body to adapt to all forms of stress by increasing the heart rate and the systolic blood pressure, increasing blood volume, increasing the blood flow to the muscles, liver, and brain, and by increasing the activity of the lungs. They also decrease the digestive function and elevate blood sugar levels for the production of energy. It thereby increases the energy, improves the reflexes, and establishes a level of vigor that enables the individual to pursue and maintain their goals in spite of the odds.

By performing these functions, the adrenal medulla provides strength, determination, power, and the ability to maintain independence and, most importantly, an identity. Psychologically, each adrenalin hormone provides additional characteristics that are unique to their action.

Epinephrine and Social Interaction

Epinephrine is an adrenaline hormone that enables us to have an identity in society. How we fit in, who we are in the world, and what our responsibilities are become established by epinephrine. Epinephrine also supplies the drive to accomplish whatever it is we are obligated to do with full respect for those involved and for all the rules, ethics, and guidelines established. At the same time, it establishes healthy and acceptable boundaries allowing us to know our true obligations and responsibilities. A healthy epinephrine makes us steady, competent, reliable, very dependable, and assured that whatever we start will be finished.  Epinephrine gives us the ability to adapt to the environment with all of its challenges.

Norepinephrine and Personal Drive

Norepinephrine gives us the determination to maintain our own identity. Who we are, what we want, and what is important to us is clarified by a healthy production of norepinephrine. It essentially drives us from within and not by external obligations or demands. It strengthens the personal aspects of life and bestows the drive to accomplish whatever it is we want regardless of the obstacles or limitations.

FSH and the Origin of Ideas

Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) stimulates the development of the testes and promotes the maturation of sperm. It enables us to procreate. Not only does FSH enable us physically to have children, but it also gives us the desire to have children. It actually makes us want to be fathers and husbands and establishes the instincts necessary to raise healthy, well-adjusted children as well as successful marriages. It provides an intuitive knowing that generates acceptable, heartfelt interest in having fruitful relationships. This parental desire also extends to our own creative world. It establishes a commitment to original ideas regarding creative projects. Wanting to paint, play an instrument, make beer, or even cook comes from a healthy FSH hormone. FSH instills the need to create and provides the ideas of what needs creating. The ultimate reward is an intuitive sense of validation resulting from  the manifestation of our own creative process.

LH and the Process

LH (luteinizing hormone) is another hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It stimulates the production of testosterone and assists in the development of sperm.

The psychological nature of LH is to formulate the ideas and goals necessary for personalized growth and development. It establishes a validation for the necessity of one’s own evolvement and consequently the development and progression of any relationship. A healthy LH bestows an intuitive knowledge of what needs to be done, how to do it, and where the difficulties are with effective resolutions. The outcome of LH is that everyone involved benefits. LH just knows how to create contentment with themselves and consequently with their relationships. A normal production of LH enables parents to maintain an acceptable level of enthusiasm and interest necessary to raise healthy, well-adjusted children, and, it allows for successful, progressive marriages. This also applies for any creative endeavors. Whereas FSH formulates the ideas for creation, LH provides the awareness of how to get it done. FSH wants to build a boat. LH brings the awareness of what materials and plans to buy along with the wisdom for usage. The outcome is a manifestation that validates existence.

Testosterone and Ambition

Testosterone is the primary male hormone. It promotes the development of the masculine characteristics including deepening of the voice, stimulating the increased usage of protein for the development of muscle and strength, and for the development of healthy psychological traits.

It is the hormone source for self worth and personal value. From the center of value comes the ambition to be productive and to pursue interests. There is always a need to improve, to become better. This leads to a healthy form of competitiveness involving the self, which creates the need to excel, to be better, and to be content with progression. Healthy testosterone enables the male to feel comfortable about themselves, their personality and the image they project to others. Confidence, a strong personal identity, ambition, contentment with the self and life, the ability to assert and commitment to self-development result from testosterone, the hormone that establishes all the reasons for living.

Androstenedione and Fun

Androstenedione is a steroid hormone produced by the testes and the adrenal cortex. It is actually a precursor hormone that is converted into testosterone. However, during the brief time that it exists before its conversion it exerts unique psychological effects.

Androstenedione produces a healthy boyish attitude about life. It enables men to enjoy life in spite of all the intense ambition, drive and determination. It allows spontaneity, relaxation, and the ability to flow with the environment. Letting go of daily stresses, playing, laughing, and enjoying life is the gift that androstenedione adds to the psychological framework of a man. It allows a man never to grow up!

Pregnenelone and Strategy

Pregnenelone is a hormone produced by the testes and the adrenal cortex that is another precursor hormone to testosterone. While active in the blood stream, it produces a very unique psychological characteristic.

Eating properly, good hygiene, the need for exercise and knowing how to care for the self come from healthy levels of estradiol. From this center, a man is able to interface in relationships, knowing how he fits in, what is required of him, and how to nourish his environment. Estradiol allows a man to know his environment through perception, feeling, and awareness. It is all intuitive. There is no thought, just action in response to demands. Multitasking is a primary trait of healthy estrogens. Intuitive response prevents the restriction of thought. Normal levels of estradiol enables a man to feel valued, secure, emotionally stable, appreciated, and worthy in his environment. There is a known sense of belonging in all immediate relationships, an inner knowing of what to do, how to act, what is right and how things should be done properly for the betterment of himself and his family or relationships.
