Prostate Health the Natural Way
The prostate is a reproductive organ about the same size and shape of a large chestnut. It lies behind the pubic bone directly below the bladder where it sits like a donut around the urethra. Its sole purpose is to produce and release a thin, milky fluid that constitutes about 30% of the total seminal fluid. This fluid helps to normalize the acid-base requirements of sperm and maintain sufficient moisture to guarantee its motility. The two ejaculatory tubes, which carry sperm from the testes, converge with the seminal tubes of the prostate at the urethra. Here the sperm combines with the seminal fluid during ejaculatory release. In so doing, the prostate helps preserve and protect the sperm, which is how it received its name. |

Prostate Supports and Protects
The word prostate comes from the Greek 'prostatis', which means to support and protect. This meaning actually extends to the psychology characteristics of the male. When the prostate is healthy, a man will feel fulfilled from their knowing they are capable of maintaining a productive lifestyle. They are content in their capacity to produce what is necessary to have a successful life. There is no need to look outside of themselves for the answers. If a problem develops in the prostate, there will be physical and psychological repercussions. |

Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy and
Prostatitis
The most common prostate disorder is Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BHP). BHP is a technical way of saying abnormally swollen prostate. Consequently, prostate disorders of this nature interfere with the flow of urine. Difficult urinations, incomplete emptying of the bladder and urinary frequency develop. BHP can also give rise to inflammations and infections that elicit pain over the lower abdomen, reflex pain to the low back area, and fevers. Disorders of the prostate can also cause impotence and erectile problems.
Prostatitis is a bacterial infection of the prostate and is usually treated with antibiotics. The underlying cause of the problem is still the same though. Following the Healthy Prostate Diet and Healthy Prostate Natural Therapy in addition to antibiotics will address the source. Don't forget to replenish your body with friendly bacteria, after taking antibiotics. Check out the Probiotic Protocol.

Prostate Psychology
Psychologically, there will be a characteristic need to find support in relationships, friends, co-workers, associates, education, religion, and even in spiritual practices involving a leader or a unique discipline. There will be a feeling of incompleteness that propels them to find answers. Lack of fulfillment, feeling incomplete, and the need to find solace or consolation in a practice or authority can occur. The correction of the prostate dysfunction includes dietary changes and the necessary nutritional supplements.

For most men a sight like the one below is not the funnest thing in the world to see. Especially if there is inflammation and sensitivity in the nether regions where the gloved hand is about to venture.
So after you've cleaned up your diet, and your pesky prostate problem is long gone you can come back to look at this picture when your diet resolve is crumbling. If that tahini is beckoning to you like an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini (on Gisele), check this picture out again and decide which path that you want to take.

Its fascinating how the body and the mind are interrelated. Which comes first? The body matching the mind, or the mind matching the body? Could it ever stem from a random act of chowing nuts for a month because there was a really great sale at Costco? Or is it just another lesson that you signed up for and you can hopefully check off as completed in this life? These are things that make you go "hmm" or at least "ow!" and then "hmm".

The Healthy Prostate Diet
The nature of caffeine is to create stress. When the body is in a stress reaction mode, it reduces the flow of blood to the "unimportant" areas. The prostate does not perform an essential function necessary for stress adaptation so circulation decreases. This causes a deficient flow of nutrients and of waste product removal resulting in deficiency syndromes and localized acid-base balance shifts. Regular consumption of caffeine can cause continual problems in the prostate.
In addition, concentrated proteins are a primary contributor to prostate problems. They possess a high amount of protein in relatively small amounts of space. Because they are more concentrated, they are absorbed into the body, from the digestive tract, in larger molecules. If the body is unable to manage them to their final stage of breakdown, they deposit in various places in the body. For some reason, the prostate is a great holding center for undigested proteins. As they accumulate, circulation declines, inflammation develops, more fluids are required to buffer them, and decreased prostatic function occurs.

Healthy Prostate Natural Therapy
| Enzyme Pro to digest the protein deposits |
|
| BromoPlex when it is inflamed and sore |
|
| NuLiv to remove rancid oil toxicity |
|
| Testroplex for healthy testosterone to nourish the prostate |
|
| Prostate PMG for conditions that have gone on for more than a year. To rebuild the tissue. |
|
| Prostaglan: When there is difficulty with urination. |
|
In the majority of cases, the results are dramatic occurring within three to seven days! As long as the diet is respected, no further treatment is required once the symptoms are gone. In the more advanced cases, I will prescribe Prostate PMG, or an herbal combination containing saw palmetto in a soft gel capsule such as Prostaglan to insure the quality of the fat molecules necessary for prostate function. TestroPlex is necessary in long-standing cases of prostate problems and especially when accompanied by impotence or loss of libido.

Monitoring your Prostate
PSA Testing
To isolate whether a prostate condition is serious, a medical test is available called Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA). PSA levels monitor prostate health and potentially warn if there is something more serious going on. It is actually a substance made by both healthy prostate cells and cancer cells. Most healthy men have levels under four nanograms per milliliter of blood. The chance of having prostate cancer goes up as the PSA level goes up, but other factors can raise the levels. BHP, prostatis, age, some drugs and even ejaculation (for up to two days) will raise PSA levels.
Watch PSA Levels Over Time
The important thing is to identify the trend of PSA numbers. If the levels are consistent from test to test, there is little to suggest anything but a healthy prostate. If the levels increase dramatically from one test to another, by more than 4 points, perform additional tests. There are now tests available for testing the form of PSA circulating in the blood. PSA either attaches to blood proteins (attached) or they are free (unattached). To calculate the percentage of free PSA, you take the ratio of how much free PSA is present compared to the total PSA level. The percentage of free PSA is higher in men who do not have prostate cancer. Any abnormality ultimately leads to the big question. Do you need a biopsy?
Optimum Biopsy Procedure Personally, from clinical experience, I am not a supporter of prostate biopsy unless it precedes immediate removal of a cancerous prostate. Cancer cells confine themselves to the involved structure until they begin metastasizing. Punching them full of holes enables the cancer cells to have free access to circulation and can facilitate metastasis. It is therefore advantageous to have the prostate removed as soon as possible if the biopsy demonstrates malignant tissue. In some clinics in Europe, they perform the biopsy and have the patient wait for the results. If it is malignant, they perform the surgery right away. This is the optimum procedure should a prostate biopsy is performed.
Making good choices
Prevention is ideal for all health issues. Yet I have seen many reversals in prostate health when the right diet and supplements are taken. Eat right, take the necessary supplements, exercise and practice moderation with the list of foods in the Healthy Prostate Diet section. Consult your physician for guidance and your own personal recommendations based on your health history.
